The 2010 Great American Super Happy Fun Time Sonoma Hop Off!

Okay. Angi and I decided that we're going to geek out and have kind of an IPA tournament if you will. Basically, just a fun organized way to try as many different IPAs as possible. We already have our favorites in mind for the grand championship, but who knows, maybe some brewery in Maine will pull the Butler and top off Dogfish or something, or maybe not.

So, we've basically figured out what they have at Total Wine, and we're going region by region and tasting a plenty. Yee haw. Sad news though, we started the list tonight, didn't make it to Total Wine until 9 or so, and all the beer we bought is warm, so the contest won't start tonight. Wah wah. We're starting with the Colorado region, and the 1st Round Colorado Contestants are:

Great Divide Titan IPA

Fort Collins Rocky Mountain IPA

Avery IPA

Breckenridge Lucky U IPA

Left Hand 400 Pound Monkey

Boulder Beer Mojo

Oskar Blues Dale's Pale Ale (Angi is swearing this is an IPA, and I'm taking her word for it, though it doesn't say IPA)

We're not counting Imperial IPAs or Double IPAs, because, well, we're not millionaires and doze shits is expensive. We're also not counting foreign IPAs (Sorry Sammy Smiths) because this is America, and we're Americans!!! Fuck Yeah!!!! No commie pinko IPA will be winning this contest!!!

So, anyways, the Colorado portion of the contest will start soon, followed by the Great Lakes Region, then we have an Atlantic/Southeast Region, a Yankee Region, and of course, the West Coast.
