What really helps someone succeed in life is when they understand exactly who they are. Off the top of my head, I can't think of a more gangly off-balance guy than Rodney Dangerfield, but hey, he's alright. He had absolutely no choice but to be a comedian. He could have constantly doubted his appearance and goofy nature, or he could accept it, and use it to make people laugh.
This is a gift most comedians have. Whether it's the fat guy who constantly relies on his love for food to get cheap laughs, or the Asian guy who succumbs to his stereotypes. Maybe succumbing to these stereotypes isn't even who you are, but you do them for the laughter, to make random couple "A" come out to a comedy show and have a great time.
What the hell else was Rodney Dangerfield going to do? Dance?
